A dirty tapemix of Dpend available.
- Niels
Next year you will be able to get your dirty hands on this fellas new record(s).

I am somewhat involved in the mixing process here so I’ve already heard a few songs.
And yes – it’s gonna be awesome.
Regarding the progress of my follow up record I have narrowed it down to 10 tracks and I’m almost there.
You can still hear some new sounds at My Space.
For a few days.
Then they’re gone again.
And yes – there’s a surprise going on.
You’ll see.

Morning and night. A week pass by quickly.

This is my 200th post. I started about a year ago. Actually 383 days ago. I´ve written mainly about the making of my newest record but also about daily things and I´ve posted pics from travels and concerts. I´ve made a few notes about friends music and I´ve written about stuff I like and don´t like.
Right now I´m working on CV:2 but I´ve come to realize that it´s goddamn hard to produce albums. So I’m gonna take a small break from completing the album and just do random songs. Initially I had a very focused idea about CV:2 but for the moment I just wanna let it rest and to make whatever songs that comes out of my head.
I’m sure that the result of CV:2 will be different because of this. I will find new songs and new aspects of doing the record. The downside is that it will take a bunch longer to finish it.
But who’s in a hurry? You can hear my songs on Spotify, you can download them at bandcamp and the new stuff will be uploaded at myspace as soon as songs are ready for a listen.
I’ve been quite lazy about this whole live-thing. We did a few concerts that went of great, but then I just had no time.
But everything has it´s time. You will see!
Anyway – I will keep this blog up and running as usual, posting new music and new nonsense for you to follow if you have any interest.
For now you can enjoy my latest song HERE!
- Niels
Sometimes you need to have some fun so we decided to go to Stockholm and meet up with some friends and go to a concert with Miike Snow.
So we did. Met a bunch of nice people and we had some drinks and some fun.

I almoooost finished another song today.
So far I’ve posted two guitarsongs. you know. guitars. Distorsion. Almost rockmusic.
This next one is .. well. different.
If the last record was straggling in all directions this record will be even worse.
That’s how I want it.

- Niels
Sorry for repeating myself, but since I’ve started to use bandcamp so you people can download/stream/buy cds pretty much whatever I’ve done I need to tell you that I made a major update today adding all my releases and all my songs. I also added stuff that ain’t available anywhere else.
So please check THIS out.
You can stream everything right upfront but the nice thing is that if you wanna download anything you set the price and just fill in your e-mail and then you’ll get a download link sent to you. And yes – you can download everything for free!
So check it out, listen if you want and share anything you want anywhere.
- Niels
I will now centre all my attention to http://nielsnielsen.bandcamp.com for sales/downloads.
Why?
1) You set the price for downloads. Free or not free – you decide.
2) I don’t have to mess with webspace for mp3s.
3) You get it all in one place. Streaming, downloads, buying, ordering CDs.
4) Yes – You can order CD’s at the same place. And you get a free download if you buy CD’s.
5) I don’t agree with the musicbusiness where profit goes before listeners. If you wanna download and listen to my music do it. If you wanna buy it do it. If you like CD’s you can order them there. YOU choose whatever you want.
6) I get to control everything myself. I hate to lose control. I have had enough trouble dealing with lame companies and from now on this is where you get it first and get it right.
7) Cd’s are for rare people so I only make rare editions to sell when I play live and for the rare people who still order CD’s. So I kinda focus on digital downloads, and this is the easiest place and way for both you and me to do it.
What about Spotify and what about iTunes.
Yes – I will still upload my finished records on Spotify/iTunes since that’s for the big crowd. Bandcamp support streaming but Spotify is more of a partybangers tool. It would be crazy to not be there.
But – since I need to pay money to release stuff on Spotify/iTunes and nothing at Bandcamp all the rare stuff will be released only on Bandcamp.
As soon as you explore my new shop and all the good stuff there you’ll see why I do this.
It’s easy for me to track stats on which songs people like (so I can play them live) and it’s easy for me to collect and organize my shit for YOU to download. It’s easy to embed and share for both me and you and blogs and whatnot.
I am so fed up with all shit between me and you. So this is basically the easiest way to do it.
To make it available for you. For you to decide if you want it. And if you want it, well, now it’s easier than ever to get it. Free or at any cost.
And at this touching moment I embed the “We Are Youth EP” for free here:
And if you rather focus on my newest record, well here you go:
- Niels
I’m starting to get a feel for my music again. I might have the first song mixed and all done from CV: 2.
I will send it to my compadre Patrik for mastering to see if works in the long run.
It’s called “Still So Young” and you might have heard it from time to time on myspace or whatever. I’ve even played it live. But that was an early version. I think this new final version is a bit more Niels still yet with a few surprises.
So one down 21 to go.
Ha Ha. I get so fed up with myself. Why can’t I just do it right from the start… Well, it’s worth it. I compared my early sketchy demo and the final song and there’s a huge difference to the better…
But I really don’t wanna start count hours.
GOOD NITE.
- Niels
I actually managed to record something today.
And you can actually listen if you wanna.
It’s a demo and the volume is pretty much lower than the other songs so don’t break yer speakers if you switch song.

Sing Sing Sing.

Fancy singing.
I’m doing some vocals today. I have alot of songs and alot of singing to do.
I built myself a songbooth today. Very very fancy indeed.
It’s working. That’s what matters.
- Niels
I wish I had something very very fantastic to write about but for the moment my mind is blank.
I’ve reorganized my studio for a few days which is good, since it was a mess. I’m planning a major recording session in about 2 weeks that hopefully will finish the complete ‘Cmon Vultures’-session.
For the moment I’m looking into the options of touring a bit. Currently Germany is under discussion but I really wanna go to France. Well, we’re looking into it all. Since we’re pretty much unknown everywhere it doesn’t really matter where we go.
So read this you foreign clubs and bookers – we are a very much very unknown band from Sweden with some killer hits that will bring close to none crowd whatsoever by our own means – but still we are willing to travel all the way just to add that special flavour to your killer club night out.
It’s very easy to book us. Just e-mail us.
I’m sleepy. DJ sleepy.

- Niels
Hey people.
I’m gonna share random songs from time to time here, so please. feel free to grab&enjoy songs as they appear… Also I thought I could something about the song… Just random thoughts how I did it and whatnot.
Download -> 01. A Wall Upfront And Some Wolves Behind
I thought it could be a good idea to start with the first song from the new album.
It’s recorded at “Plankgatan 22″ in Norrköping. I used to live in that appartment on the fourth floor. I’ve moved by now, but I must give credit to my old neighbours since this song was recorded basically in the middle of the night.
I wanted to make something different when I did this song. It’s all about the keyboard actually. The guitar things came on pretty late. So it’s the keyboard thing that started the whole song.. I usually write on guitar, but I wanted to make this very basic pianothingy and came up with this. It’s actually a really silly chord progression (F G C F G on endless repeat) but it’s often the silly simple stuff that really works for me. When I find “smart” ways to do songs I usually get bored after a while and delete the song. I’m not very fantastic on any instrument so it’s kinda basic. I’m a simple guy.
The pizzicato guitar in the beginning appears a few times on the record, but I think this was where I found it for the first time. It’s now my personal favourite sound. It’s recorded with my moms old spanish guitar. She bought it yeaaaaaaaaaaaars ago but it’s still fantastic.
The drumsound is basically a floor tom and a rimshot that me and Henric Bellinger sampled some random afternoon. The kick is a sample from logic and the hihat aswell. I use to sample stuff and mix it with basic samples from logic. I wanted it organic but static. I use less and less “acoustic drumkits” and alot of my newer songs are based on the beats so that’s quite important for me.
This song came down quite easilly. I made a few changes later on but it’s basically a “first take song” where I do most of the work at the same time that I wrote the song. Other songs on the record changed quite dramatically but this one stayed the same all the way.
This picture is from this session!

Cmon Vultures is taking shape.

Things are happening here in the studio.
I do have quite alot of songs right now.
CV Part: 1 is 10 songs.
I have 11 new ones recorded.
And a few old ones.
I’m in the process of choosing songs and finalizing lyrics and stuff.
… and I’m working on well.. yes. a few surprises aswell.
Anyway – I have a few copies of CV: 1 for you to order if you want. Also, my old records of course!
- Niels
Yep – I once did this cover just for fun. It’s funny to see how songs float around. I’ve seen traces of the song in far away places in the outskirts of ze internet..
I remember hearing Paper Planes the first time. I thought it was hilarious and great, and by the time it wasn’t this big hit it later became.
I was recording songs for “Cmon I’m Nice” but I was completely stuck and I just couldn’t come up with any ideas at all and felt I needed to try something new.
So I recorded this song. I think I spent about 1-2 hours recording and then my friend Yokola came by and laughed at it all and played the bassline. Then I put up the song in my website and since then I haven’t really thought about it. But it’s funny enough my most played song on Spotify (I guess people search for M.I.A and find this sheit haha).
Anyway – people seem to search for the song so I’ve decided to put it here again, since this is where it all begun.
Niels Nielsen – Paper Planes (M.I.A-Cover)
I am so hiphop.

What do you actually prefer?
CD’s?
Albums?
Singles?
Mp3’s?
Random songs?
I’m kinda bored with this idea of making records actually… It’s just timeconsuming. And since there are hardly any labels making anything out if releasing records, labels are more or less not signing any new stuff anyway. And since I’m releasing my own records I can do whatever I want really…
I’m not sure how I will release my stuff in the future. I think Spotify is good, I mean, mostly since all you guys can listen and you don’t really have to download stuff or rip it from a CD.
I’m working on a few solutions right here right now along with my new music and I think there will be a few surprises that you might like.
You know, I just wanna get out more often and play live. I’m not that interested in all this business-thinking. I make music, and if people wanna hear it that’s just fantastic.
I’m off to bed right now, but my head is so full of ideas I imagine there will be a hard time getting any sleep at all.
See you att sunrise people.
- Niels
Got a review from Absolut Noise the other day.
Nice and fun reading!
I’m very much honoured to be written about like this…
- Niels
Right now I’m very tired. I made a small guest appearence with Slidin’ Slim tonite. Hella fun as usual!
Sometimes I’m so glad that I play music. Today is such a day. Tomorrow I will post my thoughts on blogs. I have a few things to say.
But for now, I need something to eat, and a bunch of sleep.
I had a walk from the train station tonite.
‘
There’s something about Norrköping!
- Niels
This pictures was taken in one of the last warm days in Norrköping 2009. A few weeks (months?) ago..
Time flies.
If you wonder why we don’t play any liveshows for the moment, it’s because I’m trying to clear my head of ideas for the new record. I have 11-12-13-14 songs ready – and a bunch of new stuff to try out. So before I’m even sure of what songs I will choose for the record I need to fool around a bit more in the studio. I hope you’ll stay with me. If you haven’t noticed yet – if you’re new to this whole niels nielsen thing. There are four records on Spotify/iTunes/CD. Cmon Vultures is the latest one.
There will be surprises enough for you later on.

- Niels
To be honest and to speak the truth, when writing music. How is that possible? Is it possible?
And the listener… Does he/she need to be honest…? To listen with the heart. And not think to much. Just listen, feel, like or dislike. Some days I just feel that everythings so fucked up and that we all just play games and overuse our brains. We do have a heart for more reasons than just pumping blood. But do we use our hearts nowadays?
Do you?
Sometimes I catch myself so caught up in the world and everything around me that my brain just go autopilot. Sometimes for days. That’s fucking scary. To feel that you don’t really feel. Or care. That much anyway. I mean, I do care, I do feel, but somedays just pass without any major impact. I suppose that’s how it is for all of us. But I can’t shake that feeling off, that it is so wrong.
This was supposed to be a longer post, but I’m tired so I suppose it’s a “to be continued…”.
I understand that it might make no sense. This post.
But that’s life I guess.
- Niels
This is pretty much my view at the moment.
I’m writing e-mails, I’m taking care of paperwork and I try to finish the second (or fifth if you want) album.
Yes – sometimes I wish that some random employee at Universal would just e-mail me, and say, “hey boy – we think you’re great, we’d like to help you out, we believe in you and your fantastic music. Please be a part in our quest to spread great music over the world and also be rich doing it.”
I also sometimes dream that I sell my soul to Satan at the crossroad… Ohh, or is it the same dream? I dunno, I’ve never worked with a major label. Until they prove me wrong, I suppose I’ll think of them as Satan. So please prove me wrong by e-mailing me or calling my cell.
Damn it.
- Niels
A sneak peak from the studio.
A very tiny sneak peak.
It’s actually an old song. From Welcome To The Promising Land. But you know me. I can’t let the dead rest. I need to try this one out. I started to make a few loops so we could play the song live, but then I realized that the new version kicked ass so it will probably end up on the record aswell.
SWEET.
- Niels
I was blogged about - HERE - !
Thanks Trollhättan for a nice sweet acoustic gig this saturday!

Some pics from the trip!

The bands got a name and it’s “Niels Nielsen DC”. So if we are people on the stage, we’re a band, if it’s only me on the stage, it’s only Niels Nielsen.

Why do we live in cities?

- Niels
I’d like to remind you that my friend Henric is working on something really nice.
http://www.myspace.com/henricbellinger
I think all four songs are great, though I must say that “Start to happen” is my favourite. There’s something with the whole thing, the sound and the vibe that is totally unique in my ears. It’s spaced out vocals with a killer melody and yeah. The sound is fucking great. And I know the secrets (which keyboard is used) and I am pretty amazed over the whole thing.
I’m waiting for the record. I will buy it.
Today I spent alot of time on the countryside outside my hometown. It’s amazing how places and memories are kept hidden for years and then suddenly you find them. Feelings you had 10-15 years ago suddenly feels alive and happening all over again. I visited a small place called “Norrby” where my friend Martin used to live, I remember us riding the bikes all way into town to rent us a videogame.
This weekend we will play some songs in Trollhättan at M15 so if you’re in town, come and hear us out.
Oh, I red some blogs about “The Cortina Collective” which made me happy.
.. and watched tons of David Lynch-stuff on Youtube. I just adore that man. He do have alot of great things to say in real life.
And I’ve spent some time with my family. Playing around with my sisters two kids. I love to have a reason to play with my old toysoldiers and knights and pirates again. My giant toy-castle is back in bizniz!
…. and I’ve come up with some new lyrics and some new titles.
… and I’ve been watching the Broder Daniel Forever movie (which I really liked though I never really got the band) and I’ve spent some time listening to Jeff Buckley… again.
Tomorrow , back to reality.
